The simplest way to enjoy Maca root powder is to mix it in with your favorite beverage, but Maca is indeed a food and can be added to various recipes both sweet and savory. Here we give you some of our favorite Maca recipes. If you have any questions or have a recipe that you’d like to add please let us know.

Simple Maca Drinks

Vegan Maca Milk Recipe

This is one of the best simple Maca recipes ever. It’s the way that many of us here at The Maca Team prefer to get our daily serving of Maca. Note that the container pictured above looks big, but it contains just 2.5 teaspoons of Maca..

Ingredients:

1 cup nut or rice milk
2-3 t Maca Powder of any kind
1/2 t cinnamon – optional – but will help with the taste of Maca in case you don’t enjoy it.

Preparation:

While you can just stir Maca in a glass with a whisk or a fork, you might find that doing it that way the Maca powder doesn’t fully blend with the milk. For that reason we recommend using a small blender, shaker jar. We usually use one of our great Blender bottles pictured below.

Maca Tee

You can add Maca powder to your favorite tea.   We often enjoy it with a ginger lemon herbal tea. 

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 t maca powder
  • 1 C of your favorite hot tea

Instructions:

Brew your hot tea for 3-5 minutes, then add Maca and stir or shake in a blender bottle until well combined.  If you are using gelatinized Maca, you don’t have to be worried about cooking the Maca (since it’s pre-cooked) and you can simply place it the cup along with the tea while its brewing.

Smoothies

Maca Green Food Smoothie

We love green smoothies and adding Maca is a great way to give a smoothie that little extra boost. This green food Maca recipe is one of our favorites. Its hearty and filling.

Ingredients:

2 frozen bananas
1 cup kale or other greens
1-2 ripe kiwis
2-3 T honey or agave syrup
1 T coconut oil
1 T ground flax seeds
1/2 t vanilla extract
1-3 T maca powder
1 tsp cinnamon
2 cups unsweetened almond or rice milk

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Feel free to adjust ingredients according to availability and your taste. Remember to use organically grown foods whenever possible.

Maca Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Maca goes really well with strawberries and bananas in our opinion. This is a classic recipe that we all have enjoyed many times with our morning Maca serving. Note that some people have trouble digesting Maca with bananas or other fruits. If you notice any difficulty, avoid using bananas and also other fruits with Maca.

Serves 1

Ingredients:

6-10 medium fresh strawberries
1 banana
1-3 t maca powder
1/4 cup rice or almond milk
1/2 t vanilla extract
1 t flax seed oil
1 C ice cubes (if you want a cold drink)

Preparation:

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy immediately.
